Introduction to the Montessori Area︰

Through work in the Montessori practical life area, children’s curiosity and interest are stimulated, allowing them to develop basic personal care skills and abilities, such as pouring water, using a spoon, and buttoning clothing. The care environment and household tasks include activities like cleaning tables, arranging flowers, and caring for plants and animals, helping children learn to cherish and beautify their surroundings while enhancing their aesthetic sensibilities.

In terms of fine motor skills, activities like bead threading, picking up objects, and opening jar lids strengthen small muscle coordination and hand-eye coordination. In multi-step activities, such as food preparation—which involves peeling, chopping, juicing, and handling vegetables, as well as making food—children practice observing demonstrations closely, remembering steps, and planning, enabling them to carry out complex multi-step tasks. Through this, they gradually establish independence, focus, a sense of order, and physical coordination. At the same time, they learn to respect themselves, others, and the environment. This process also includes learning elegance and etiquette, where dining table manners help children grasp social etiquette and skills.
